Turf Forum 6/24/15
Thank you to the people of Carlisle, Concord, Medway, even the folks who came from out-of-state, who made the time to attend our 6/24 information session. We went an hour longer than planned to accommodate audience questions. At the start of the meeting, we offered to post the answers to any questions we did not answer during the forum. There were a few questions that we did not answer and after reviewing those, we determined they were either seeking a level of technical detail about the methods of analysis of certain aspects of the governmental studies referenced during the evening to which we do not have access or they were rhetorical in nature. Thank you again to all who participated in the forum.
Artificial Turf Submittal
Dr. Steve Clough of Haley & Aldrich prepared a submittal to the Town as required by our Special Permit. This provides a comprehensive assessment of the risk to groundwater and concludes:
"Based on this review of at least 9 case studies (Table 1), the overall weight‐of‐evidence strongly suggests that the installation of a new synthetic turf field at the CCRHS will have no adverse effect on groundwater quality. Generally speaking, the studies reviewed in the literature were either negative or, when a metal or organic chemical related to tire crumb rubber was detected, the levels were below the safe, risk‐based standard."
